Introducing....

Meet our new red merle Aussie pup, Bo. As in Bo Duke . Jim came up with that, I thought it was cute and works well, now we just need to find our blue merle puppy so we can have Bo & Luke Duke... ;-) He was a very tired boy and fell right asleep next to Jim and laid there for a good while, even after Jim finally got up. And right now he is sleeping right under my chair as I type this. He is a cutie.

I have to admit I never wanted a red merle, I was actually wanting a red tri (solid brown with copper and white accents) since we have been having trouble finding any blue merles around here (I found one that I LOVE but thats another story...). But we went to see these puppies and were trying to choose between a red-bi (no copper points) and this guy and Jim really seemed to like him a lot so we brought him home. Now that we have him I really like him and I have been looking at pics of red merles on google and they are pretty. I just have a thing for blue merles though, they are still my favorite =D Soo....Bo will one day have a puppy brother to play with (Barb, if you happen to read this, I will email you soon ;-) )! The more the merrier I say ;(ok, but seriously, 2 is the limit!!) Now, I am off to bed, I just wanted to let everyone know the joyous news and to document the newest addition to our family. Hmmm...maybe I will celebrate with my very first giveaway....you better be sure to check back in the next couple days to see what it will be!!

Find Me Friday

The honey bees were all over this goldenrod so I had to get some shots, then I looked down and saw what is in the next pic......

And about screamed!!
A big huge garden SPIDER!!!! ACK!!! I know some of you are a bit "squirmish" about spiders so I will spare you the close-up (what? I had to take a close up shot! teehee) but just know I got close to that big 'ole thing and it was blechy!! And I was RIGHT on top of it before I saw it! Oooo shivers!! At least it sat still and didn't dart or anything, like those stupid hairy jumping spiders....ewwww! Sooo anyway...thanks for stopping by this week, have a great weekend!!

If you are new this week, all you have to do is post a photo of whatever you want (within reason of course, keep it clean people! ;-) ) and it has to have some element of "peekaboo," "hiding" or "camouflage" in it. Think of one of those hidden pictures where you have to find the hidden images. Or a green frog blending into the green leaf he is sitting on. There are tons of options! Have fun with it!

If you would like to join in, please make sure to link back to my blog and use my button if you like. If I decide your image(s) is/are inappropriate, I have the right to delete your link. Other than that, have fun and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Oh, and I plan on having weekly themes in the future, but if you don't have a photo that falls into the category, you can still participate. And I don't mind if you add this into another Friday blog carnival. As long as you remember to link to me, that is great! Ok, that's all for now, lets see those photos!

Here is a button for you to use if you would like to participate. Thanks!

Thankful Thursday

I am SOOOO Thankful for my new faucet, sprayer and soap dispenser!!! You have NO idea! I am working on the kitchen little by little and this has made a huge difference. Before, the faucet dripped leaving yucky rust stains since we have well water with lots of iron in it (we do have a water softener and use those rust remover pellets, but it doesn't take it ALL out). So every time I scrubbed my sink, I felt SUPER discouraged because I knew in the morning it would have nice rust stains in it all over again. So I didn't scrub it as often as I should have and I wasn't motivated to keep my sink clean (first step for FlyBabies!). Then there was that nasty orange caulking around the sprayer and the little spigot. That stuff was AWFUL. I was so glad to get it removed, I had to use a razor blade and then some Goof Off (LOVE that stuff!!) and it thankfully came off pretty easily. Alright, so here are the before and after pics.

Ahhh! It just feels soooo much better! And I haven't had to scrub any rust out for the last week and a half! Yay! Oh and I really love that little soap dispenser - no more having a soap bottle on the counter and its so handy to just give it a little squirt right into the dishwater when I am doing dishes (that's right, we don't have a dishwasher, boooo).

So now....anybody have any suggestions for a new back splash? I hate that stuff that is there now, and the counter top will be getting a makeover as well...soon, very soon, so make sure you watch for those upcoming posts in the near future. This is my new fall project, so I will be posting some before pics of the entire kitchen. We have a wee tiny budget so its gonna take a while and some creativity, but we will get it looking better!

Heirloom Party

I am taking part in Marie's party, please make sure you go check it out and visit everyone to see what heirlooms they treasure. Thanks so much to Marie for hosting this great party!

This is the afghan my paternal grandmother made for me when I was a baby. It is on top of a toy chest my paternal grandfather made years ago, I think when my dad was a kid. It is now used as a toy box and coffee table in our family room. It needs a bit of a makeover, but I have not been able to decide what I want to do yet...

A closeup of my afghan:

We have been so blessed to have my grandmother in our lives, she also made an afghan for little Jimmy, her first Great-Grandson. He was followed by 3 more great -grandsons all in the same year! They each received a beautiful handmade afghan from Grammy the Great! =) Here is Jimmy's:

This is an Amber or "Bernstein" pendant from my Oma (German, maternal Grandmother). She actually found it at the Baltic Sea, she has many pieces she collected when she still lived in Germany before she married my Opa during the war and moved to the United States.

And this is my mother's engagement ring. I think she told me it only cost about $100-$200 back in 1968 when her and dad got married. It just has a little tiny diamond and little bitty chips in the points of the star. She said she wanted something unique so dad got her this in the shape of the star of David. It is so very special to me as my mom passed away 3 years ago from early-onset Alzheimer's. If you are interested in that story, please click here. (Sis, I hope you aren't jealous, did you even know I had this?!) ;-)
I do not wear my mom's ring as the setting is a bit too tall, I would get it snagged on everything, but I did get a unique ring that has a meaning to me (it is not the only one of its kind, but there aren't a whole lot of them out there). I have a bit of Celtic heritage on both sides of my family and I have fallen in love with all things Irish. Here is my ring, I wanted trinity knots to signify the importance of Father-Son-Holy Spirit in my life and it also symbolizes my husband and I joined together with the Lord:

Well, there you have it. My family "heirlooms" at least some of the ones that aren't packed away. I don't have too many, and they aren't worth much, but they have a lot of meaning to me. And hopefully they and the "new" ones will have a lot of meaning to our children and so on. Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to go back to Marie's and check out all the other heirloom posts.

Thankful Thursday

I am SO very Thankful for this:
Notice anything different about our roof? Maybe it would help to look at this post. Look at the 4th picture down....Some of you may remember that we had blue tarps all over our roof because of wind damage and shingle loss. Well, its FINALLY fixed, the new roof is on! Yay! I am so thankful, it only took ALL SUMMER, but that's a WHOLE different story, the important thing is ITS DONE!

Showing off My Art

I am joining in the MckLinky Blog Hop this week and showing off some of my artwork. Here are a few older things I have done, its been a long time since I have had time to do anything. I sure do miss it! Can you tell I had a thing for frogs? Those are now hanging in Jimmy's room. The first one is colored pencil and the other 2 are oil paintings. The chickadee is colored pencil and the tiger is ink.

Here are some wooden signs I have made, painted by hand. If you like these, make sure you stay tuned to my blog for a very special announcement coming soon.... ;-)

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you go and check out all the other artwork on the blog hop!

Not Me! Monday - The Witch Strikes Again!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I thought this would be perfect for Not Me! Monday...

I did NOT take my son back to Lowe's and I did NOT show him the witch and try to show him it was pretend.

He wasn't quite as scared as last week, but he was still worried. This past week has been a bit interesting though. Jimmy did NOT see my last blog post about his encounter with the witch and he did NOT see the picture of her. He has NOT been scared and worried the entire last week! He does NOT keep pointing at the guest room where the computer is, and he was NOT so worried that he would not eat his dinner a couple times. It is really NOT starting to get a little annoying lol. But I will say it is also NOT pretty cute to see him worried. He points to the room and covers his little mouth and says "Oh no" in such a sweet little voice! I thought he would forget, but he didn't. And I did NOT print out a picture of said witch from the Lowe's website so that Jimmy might get used to her and not be afraid anymore. At least he has been sleeping fine, thank the Lord!

Here is a video of him worrying about the witch and our attempt at a solution (you will want to hit pause on my playlist so you can hear the dialog).

Where were you when the world stopped turning...

...that September day?

This is part of what I had posted on my old geocities website 8 years ago. Join me in remembering those lost and praying for their families and those who protect and serve our great nation. In God We Trust.

And this is one of my favorite photos, not sure who the photographer was, though I probably should because everyone knows it! What a wonderful image in the midst of such tragedy.

Find Me Friday - I Finally Found Them!

Can you find the little white nose of a kitten?

This is a special edition of Find Me Friday. I finally found Mama Cat's new litter! There are 4 sweet little babies, 2 girls and 2 boys. She had them hiding in our "garage" (needs to be burned down, its old and falling apart). They were under the blue tarp we have over our tiller. The tarp is to keep the bird doodoo off because the front of the garage is missing one of its 2 big sliding doors and the birds just LOVE to nest in there. Argh! So anyway, I was just poking around in there looking for something to stake a tree with and I hear the sweet little "mew" of a kitten. And then another and another. They came stumbling out of their hiding place and stared up at me with their big, newly opened eyes. They are sooo cute! So without further ado, here are a couple pics of the babies (and Mama in the first pic).

That was the longest game of Hide & Seek I have ever played lol. I knew I would find them when they got big enough to move around and be more vocal, & they sure gave themselves away! Hopefully Mama will move them into the barn soon, the garage is too close to the road for my comfort!
