VGNO - Thanks Belly!

So here in Ohio we are getting a bit of a snow storm. Not so much as the east coast, thank the Lord, but enough to make me want to crawl into bed and hibernate until the spring flowers are popping up! So I think a Virtual Girls Night Out is in order, because there is NO WAY I am going out in this snowy, slushy mess. Want to join in? Head over to Ann's to blog hop and meet some new friends!

I just have to share something that happened today that struck me as hilarious. Ok, I am 4 months pregnant, getting a belly now and at lunch time I was peeling a hard boiled egg for little Jimmy. Well, I dropped it and it was about to fall on the floor, but it bounced off my belly and I caught it! It was great, prolly a "had to be there" moment, but I got a kick out of it. Especially since right when I dropped it I was thinking, great, that totally figures, there goes the last egg, etc. but then to my amazement my luck changed. That hardly ever happens lol!

VGNO - Doing the Tissue Boogie

Its that time of week again and boy do I need it! Its time for the Virtual Girls Night Out, so head on over to Ann's to check out whats going on.

My 2 year old has had a cough for the last, oh, week and a half (he is fine though, acting like his normal self thank goodness, no fever or anything). And along with it he has a bit of a snotty nose. Its not runny snotty, but, uh, booger snotty. I am sure all you moms out there have dealt with this sort of thing many times. Well, Jimmy has discovered how to pick his nose. And the cute part is - yes, there is a cute part - every time he gets a good "catch" he comes running to me with his finger outstretched showing me his prize and wanting a tissue. He is so sweet to come to me wanting a tissue instead of wiping it on my couch or something. Of course, I have caught him eating (GROSSSSSS) them once or twice, and since I have told him not to do that in a mortified voice, I think he has decided it is funny and will continue to do it for the entertainment of mommy's reaction....lol. But luckily most of the time he brings them to me to wipe with a tissue.

And speaking of bringing me things, Jimmy is so sweet, he has been bringing me the dish towel every time I wash my hands at the kitchen sink! It is the cutest thing and he does it most every I wash my hands or do the dishes. I think I have a dish drier in my future, yay!

Happy Birthdays! & VGNO

Yep, I said "birthdays" plural. Jimmy's 2nd birthday was on Wednesday, the 20th and mine is today. =)  We had a two day celebration for Jimmy's, Wednesday night we had cupcakes and opened his presents from Mommy & Daddy and then yesterday we had his Great Grandparents over and my dad & Kathy (Granddad & Grandma). For that celebration I made Jimmy's special Thomas cake, boy does that kid LOVE Thomas!! We will add a third celebration on Sunday at Jim's parents' house. I can't believe my sweet baby boy is 2 already!! And next year he will have a little brother or sister, wow!! Time just keeps going faster and faster.=(

Here is a pic of Jimmy enjoying his felt hamburger I made him. I also made him felt fruit consisting of an orange slice, 2 apple slices, a strawberry and a banana. He loves them!

As far as my birthday is concerned, hubby had to work late, so I decided to join in VGNO over at Ann's. So go check it out and join in the fun!!

The party game for this week is called "Would You Rather...?" so my question for you is....Would you rather have your significant other/good friend/family member throw you a surprise party for your birthday, or go out (or stay in) and have dinner with your significant other?  I myself would prefer to spend time alone with my hubby and just go out to eat & maybe a movie.

You Know What I Need? A VGNO!!!

Wow, its been a long time since I joined in Ann's Virtual Girls Night Out, and BOY do I need one tonight!! So hello to everyone I may not have seen in a while and hello to all the new people I haven't met before =)

This week has been horrible concerning the earthquake in Haiti. It tears my heart out. Please check out my previous post to learn a little about the missionaries I support there and to learn about my own experience there.

Ok, now on to Ann's Party! I won't be having anything to drink that has alcohol in it because I am expecting our 2nd baby, due in July. So pass the OJ please! Or maybe I will indulge in a little bubbly - Peach Soda (y'all probably think that sounds gross, but I just LOVE it!!)

Alright, how about a party game....
We are playing "I Would Like To Thank"......well, in light of all that is happening in Haiti,

1.) I Would Like To Thank - the people that have donated to Amy & Doug's mission in Haiti
2.) I Would Like To Thank - my husband for being SUCH a hard worker, he has been going in to work at 5:30am and not coming home until after 7 a lot of nights, plus working Sat & Sun for 5-8 hours for the last 2+ months now.....
3.) I Would Like To Thank - God for taking care of my family and providing us with all that we have, most of it things we really don't need but are "creature comforts" I feel so unworthy knowing what they are going through in Haiti. As if it wasn't bad BEFORE the earthquake, because it was, but now its just plain devastation.

My best friend Alanis and I went shopping for $200 ripped jeans. We wanted to show them off when we went to hang out at the skate park. You won't BELIEVE who we saw at the mall. Keanu Reeves! We screamed so loud they had to call Security. It was the best day ever!

VGNO - Michael Jackson Tribute

Ann asked how we met our hubby. Well, I met Jim in high school. We were both actually on Prom Court our Junior year. I was Prom Princess, but he didn't get Prince, though that would have been a neat story since we didn't even know each other then. My then boyfriend was up for Prince too, but he didn't get it either. The guy that did get it ended up getting married the same day Jim and I did though. We are all connected somehow lol! ANYWAY, Jim and I started dating at the end of Senior year after being in study hall and on the track team together. He really wasn't my type, but there was something about him....I finally dated him and discovered he was the sweetest, kindest, teddy-bear guy I had ever met! We dated for almost 7 years and the rest is history lol.


Ok, so I am super bummed by the sudden death of Michael Jackson. I know, he was a bit weird in his later years, but I LOVED his Thriller days (and younger of course). I used to dress up in a red shirt and glove and just dance all around the house. I LOVED his music videos, especially the full-length Thriller video. Here is a link to it: Thriller - Full Version.

Michael Jackson was an amazing, super talented singer and dancer and no amount of "strangeness" (or plastic surgery lol) can change that. He had some bad moments (holding the baby over the balcony??? NOT GOOD!) but all in all, he will be missed!

Well.....my mom used to say that I had Brooke Shields eyebrows....then I plucked them....but a lot of people have said that I look like Martina McBride, the country singer, especially when we both had short hair. VGNO - Super Freak Out Mommy Barbie

Booooy do I need this Virtual Girls Night Out!!! What a DAY! I took Jimmy over to Oma's house for a visit. Well, then we discovered that her cat had peed all over her sleeper sofa and it had soaked into the mattress! Oma didn't know because she doesn't have any sense of smell anymore. I sure noticed though! So we took the mattress out to the garage and the cushions outside. She decided that she just wants to get rid of the couch and get a new one since it is old and worn anyway. So Jim and I will have to go haul it away for her soon. After that incident we went and got some lunch. Jimmy didn't seem to have much of an appetite, but I didn't think much of it. Then we went and did a little grocery shopping and afterwards Jimmy and I came home. When we got home I noticed that Jimmy felt a little warm and took his temperature after I remembered he didn't eat much. He had a temp of 102.8! Yikes! After a wee bit of freaking out by me, calling the dr. and Angie and my MIL, we decided it must be because he was getting another tooth. DUH! Why didn't I think of that? Thanks Angie! ;-) He totally did this once before when he was getting a tooth! It just didn't occur to me because most of his other teeth came in without much fuss. So anyway, we gave him a nice cool bath and some tylenol and now his temp is down and he is sound asleep. And he devoured dinner, so I think he is feeling much better! And me, I am ready to sit back and relax and hang with my girls! Now, on to Ann's!

Her party game is to see which Barbie we are. I am Sunscreen Barbie according to the chart, but I think I am really Super Freak Out Mommy Barbie after today lol!

Ok, here is a video of one of my fav songs by one of my fav bands, The Benjamin Gate! Unfortunately, this band broke up, however, Adie, the lead singer, married a guy named Jeremy Camp (if you listen to Christian music, you have probably heard of him ;-) ) and she put out a solo album. She is just so awesome! I hope you enjoy it, it always "Lifts Me Up"!

Since we are talking candy tonight, I thought I would post a recipe I found for Peanut Butter BonBons, in honor of my Candy Name of course!

I have not made these yet myself, but I linked to the original recipe on Allrecipes.com above and it had good reviews. And they contain Peanut Butter. Need I say more??

Peanut Butter BonBons

Ingredients:

• 2 cups peanut butter
• 3/4 cup butter
• 4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
• 3 cups crispy rice cereal
• 6 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped

DIRECTIONS

1. In a medium saucepan, melt together the peanut butter and butter, stirring occasionally until warm and smooth. In a large bowl, stir together the confectioners' sugar and rice cereal; pour the peanut butter mixture over the cereal mixture and use your hands to blend well. Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls and chill.
2. In the microwave or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, melt chocolate chips, stirring frequently until smooth. Dip the peanut butter balls into the chocolate using a toothpick. Place onto waxed paper to set.

I hope they turn out great, I will be making them as soon as I get some of the cereal. We don't have any in the house, boo! =(

VGNO - Happy Mothers Day

I am a bit late tonight, we had a long day and I just got little Jimmy into bed. I have been in kind of a "blah" mood all day, so I need this VGNO to get my spirits lifted! =)

This is going to me my second Mother's Day. Nothing too exciting going on, just heading over to my in-laws' house to make lunch for my MIL. Then I suppose we might go over to my Dad and Kathy's house afterward.

As far as Mother rants, I really don't have any yet, except, they grow TOO FAST! Other than that, I am thankful I don't have any. I know the day will come though, lets hope it wont be TOO bad lol =)

Tonight Ann wants to know if we have ever had a "walking into a room and everyone is staring at you and you realize you tucked your skirt into your underwear" type moment. I don't think I really have, except maybe the "I had a piece of spinach in my teeth the whole night and no one told me" type thing. But nothing comes to mind. Oh well, I am sure it will happen some day!

For tonight's fun activity, we are supposed to tell what clothes we just HAD to have when we were 12 or 13. Well....I was a MAJOR tomboy, so really didn't care much. I DID love my cowboy boots and Wranglers, and my big brother's Blackhawk's hockey jersey. So that's about it, nothing spectacular lol!

My first voyage on the Pacific Princess was quite entertaining! I got invited to sit at the Captain's Table for dinner. So off I went to get dressed and powder my nose. On my way to dinner, I passed the lido deck and almost got ran over by Zsa Zsa Gabor CHASING Charo!! Gopher was chasing after them, trying to get them stop, but too late! Charo looked back to see how close Zsa Zsa was and as she turned, she tripped over a lounge and Zsa Zsa, who was right behind her, slammed into her and they both went straight into the pool! Talk about a sight for sore eyes! Dripping wet gowns and makeup sliding down their faces. I laughed as I took Gopher's arm and he showed me to the Captain's Table.

Now its time to head over to JAM's where tonight, she is serving up the drinks for our voyage on the Love Boat. Since I am in a tropical mood, my drink of choice is a virgin one of these (Why's the rum gone?? lol):
