Then he turned 3...

Today was Jimmy's 3rd birthday!! I can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, all tiny in his car seat, too small for his Winnie the Pooh bunting. Now he is a rambunctious toddler, learning how to use the big boy potty and starting to ask "Why" about everything. He is such a sweet little boy, I wouldn't trade him for the world. He has a slight obsession with a certain blue talking train...and mommy and daddy did not disappoint with his presents. I found this awesome Mega Blok set at Christmastime on amazon.com for $14.99 so I HAD to buy it. It was hard, but I kept it aside for Jimmy's birthday, even though I wanted to give it to him at Christmas! Glad I did, because it was a hit! Here is a photo of it all set up and Jimmy & daddy having fun with it:

We are having a tiny get together for Jimmy with my dad and Kathy and my brother, sister-in-law and nephews on Saturday (which is actually MY birthday!) so I will have more pics and one of Jimmy's Thomas cake that I am making later. And then we are having a little party at Jim's parents' house on Sunday, so I may have MORE pics for ya ;-)

Happy Birthday Jimmy!

Not Me! Monday - The Witch Strikes Again!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I thought this would be perfect for Not Me! Monday...

I did NOT take my son back to Lowe's and I did NOT show him the witch and try to show him it was pretend.

He wasn't quite as scared as last week, but he was still worried. This past week has been a bit interesting though. Jimmy did NOT see my last blog post about his encounter with the witch and he did NOT see the picture of her. He has NOT been scared and worried the entire last week! He does NOT keep pointing at the guest room where the computer is, and he was NOT so worried that he would not eat his dinner a couple times. It is really NOT starting to get a little annoying lol. But I will say it is also NOT pretty cute to see him worried. He points to the room and covers his little mouth and says "Oh no" in such a sweet little voice! I thought he would forget, but he didn't. And I did NOT print out a picture of said witch from the Lowe's website so that Jimmy might get used to her and not be afraid anymore. At least he has been sleeping fine, thank the Lord!

Here is a video of him worrying about the witch and our attempt at a solution (you will want to hit pause on my playlist so you can hear the dialog).

Jimmy's First Scary Encounter

So we went to Lowe's today, like we often do on the weekends. We were just walking along, looking for mousetraps (that's a whole 'nother story!) when little Jimmy starts kind of whimpering/whining, not really crying but definitely upset...what on earth is wrong bud? Well, I turn around and there at the end of the aisle is this:(if you click on the picture if will take you to the Lowe's web page with her description)

We had walked right by her and I didn't even think about the fact that, hey, my little guy just MIGHT be afraid of that big scary life sized thing that is motion activated and starts moving and cackling when you walk by. Nope, not me, I just walk right in front of her, and I did notice her, but i being afraid of her never even crossed my mind. I actually even thought he might be entertained. Nah ah. He was squirming and panicking and was just plain worried about her the whole rest of the time we were in the store. We walked waaaay down the front of the store to the other end where the lumber is and he was STILL looking back at her, making sure she hadn't followed us. We even let him hold the mousetraps and told him they were witch traps, so he was safe if she came near (after trying to explain that she was pretend and she couldn't move of course). That helped a little. Then we went down an aisle and were looking at hardware for a bit and he forgot about her. As soon as we went to check out though, he spotted her and started hollering! So Jim tossed me the keys and out we went to the truck. And thus ended our first experience with Jimmy being scared of something. He has never done anything like that that I can remember, he wasn't scared of anything last year around Halloween, so I guess we have entered a new stage of awareness. Poor little guy =(

Oh and PS - I have to admit, that witch did kind of creep me out too, lol! Must be that ugly face and the fact that she is motion activated, that kind of stuff always catches me off guard a little! I mean, come on, lets look at that again shall we?
U - G - L - Y, you ugly, yeaaaah you ugly!! A face only a mother could love (or something lol). Goodnight!

A Year and a Half!

Our sweet little man is 18 months old today! I just can't believe it, the time has flown by! We are so very thankful for such a sweet little guy, he is just something else. He knows most of his body parts and can point to them. He runs around like a wild child, climbs on the furniture, takes daddy's hat off and puts it on his own head. Rides around on his little Power Wheels (not currently "powered") front loader that "Uncle" Frank gave him. He loves the barn kitties, horses and dogs. He knows his animal sounds and makes truck noises when they drive by. He knows some sign language, like please, thank you, more, eat, milk, bird, up, and probably more I can't think of right now...

Jimmy with Daddy's safety glasses on and 2 pacifiers in his mouth, he has such a great sense of humor!

He doesn't say many words but sure knows what they mean. If you tell him something, he usually knows what you are saying. The words he does say are momma, dadda, yeah, no, "da" for dog and "kee" or "ca" for kitty. I am sure there are more, but I can't decipher them lol. He loves to be outside and just explore, finding rocks or flowers and carrying around one in each fist until you pry it out. He loves to go down the slide and play in his sandbox.

"I been watching you, dad ain't that cool, I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you..."

He loves to play ball and play with his tool bench on the porch. He even takes time out of his "busy schedule" to come sit by mommy on the couch and read his books. He loves his books! Our little Jimmy is growing up right before our eyes. Before we know it he will be going off to kindergarten and then graduating from high school! We love our sweet little man SO very much and we thank God for our precious gift every day!

A New Turtle, a Drawing and a Stargazer

Where HAS Ali been? Well, I have been a busy little bee! Here is a little of what I have been up to.

Remember this post? Remember the part about the turtle sandbox? Well....I FINALLY found one with eyes (lol, I am pathetic I know)! A friend of mine told me about one last week, her friend was selling it for $5 and she didn't think it had eyes anymore, but at this point I didn't care. Just wanted to get one so Jimmy could finally play in the sand with his toys his grandparent's got him for EASTER! So we went to pick it up and it turned out it was in great shape and DID have eyes AND the lady selling it even threw in some of her son's sand toys & hotwheels cars he didn't want anymore. What a great $5 deal! Here are some pics of the little man enjoying his "new" sandbox:

Awww, yay! It has eyes! ;-)

Not sure he likes the feel of the sand:
Thinking the sand is alright, but still not willing to get too into it...he sat like this pretty much the whole time. I love how his little toes are all curled up!

Oh, cool, Daddy built a racetrack!

Ok, now remember THIS post? A LOT of you won't because it is from FEBRUARY! But anyway, I started this drawing back then...and am still working on it. Now you probably think, geez is she slow...but in all honesty, I have probably only worked on it for about 20 minutes MAX. I just haven't sat down and FOCUSED long enough to get it done. Another 20 minutes or so would probably be enough, so now I just need to git 'er dun! Oh yeah, here it is.

Not bad for not having drawn in I don't know how many years. I will have to do a post of some of my old stuff, I found a bunch of pics from my old geocities website, so I already have them on my computer. Maybe I will show them to you next week....

And finally, there was this post. And now there are these:

GORGEOUS! My beautiful Stargazer Lilies are blooming, ahhhh I just LOVE them! My very favorite flowers, they just make me smile =)

Besides all that, we went to a garage sale of a friend's on Saturday and got soaked in the rain, major downpour! Sunday we went to church and a chicken roast afterwards and then today a friend came over and brought her 2 kids and we had a nice playdate. It was great to be able to talk to another ADULT for once ;-)

Ok everyone, thanks for stopping by and I will hopefully be catching up on my visits to y'all's blogs in the next couple days, I am so behind and miss knowing what is going on with everyone! Have a great (rest of the) week!

Photo Tags!

As I am playing catch up lately, here are a couple photo tags that I am supposed to do. First off, Jessica over at Country Family Robinson tagged me a couple weeks ago. I am supposed to show the 6th photo in the 6th folder....and it is my sweet little nephew Caspian! This is a newborn pic, isn't he precious??

Ok, then I was tagged by JAM to do this too, finding the 1st folder and 10th picture. Here it is:

Awww, its my sweetie little man when he was 3 months old! He was SUCH a CHUNK! Awww, he is growing so fast, I can't believe this was 14 months ago!

Hope you enjoyed my pics, if you would like to play along, consider yourself tagged!! Please leave me a comment letting me know if you are participating so that I can come and see your photos! Have fun!

Much thanks to JAM and Jessica for tagging me, I love this game! =)

Poor Jimmy...

I took Jimmy to the doctor this morning because he has had this diaper rash that won't go away. Well, the Dr. thinks it is a staph infection. Booooo! I had a sneaking suspicion.... =( My poor little baby! The Dr. did a culture, so we will see what it is exactly. He put Jimmy on antibiotics so I hope it clears up quick! Jimmy actually had something similar back in February and the Dr. prescribed some ointment that cleared it up, but it has returned twice now! I REALLY hope it isn't MRSA. Please say a quick prayer for our little guy, that this goes away once and for all! Thanks everyone!

Climbing on the Couch

Uh oh! Jimmy FINALLY figured out how to climb up on the couch all by himself! He has been getting up there when someone is sitting there, kind of using them as a support to help pull himself up. But today look what I found:

He has "that look" on his face, lol. Ahh...my little sweet baby is growing up!

Jimmy's First Haircut

Well, I did it. I finally cut little Jimmy's hair. And he was such a good boy! He just sat there in his chair watching his movie while I snipped away. Now he no longer has his onthevergeofamullet 'do, its just a cute little boy cut. Here are a few pics (the before pic is a little older, forgot to take one tonight!).

A Valentine for Daddy

Jimmy making his first Valentine (mommy helped) =) Mommy made him a couple of potato stamps, we had fun!

Jimmy Growling

I finally got a video of my sweet little baby boy growling. It's a little more "high pitched" than normal, but the other video I have is a little long, didn't want to bore anyone =)
Check it out -

Please note that he has a sock in each hand, he almost always HAS to have something in each hand, whether it is a sock, a little toy, or a wipe (we use cloth wipes). He is so funny!

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

So I am jumping in and taking part in telling the world what I DIDN'T do recently =)

I am NOT sitting here at the computer typing this while I should be out in the barn doing horsie chores so my hubby doesn't have too when he gets home from his 2nd job at 11pm tonight...

I did NOT drive my car with expired tags last week and then freak out about it while at the mall and get all flustered and want to go straight home on the backroads....

I did NOT let Jimmy watch a video (Kinda like MckMama with her boys!) while eating his organic toasted oats cereal...so I could play a game online

I do NOT still have candy left from Christmas sitting on the dining room table...and am still nibbling on it!

I did NOT let Jimmy have a bite of a sugary, processed, full of yucky stuff doughnut yesterday

I did NOT just mail out some Christmas thank-yous today...and I do NOT still have a bunch left to write

On that note, I did NOT put the list of baby shower gifts somewhere and never got around to writing the thank-you's for most of them...from a year ago!

Yikes! Join me next week for more things that I DIDN'T do!

Oops I Crapped My Pants...for babies

I got a new nighttime diaper for Jimmy. We were starting to have some oversaturating problems with his regular bumGenius 3.0's (even with extra inserts) so I decided to get some hemp inserts and a Drybee's fleece diaper. We used it for the first time last night with 1 microfleece insert and 1 Happy Heiny hemp insert. Annnnd....It didn't leak! Yay! Jimmy usually goes to bed around 7:30 pm and wakes up once or twice to nurse and then wakes up around 9 in the morning. We didn't have any problems with leaking for a long time, but he has been having more liquids during the day and holding it in more, and with the nursing at night (he went a long time without nursing at night, from about 3 months to 9 or 10!) he has become a heavy wetter. The only thing about the Drybee's fleece is that it is so bulky once you get the inserts in. It gave Jimmy quite a bubble butt! I just couldn't stop laughing. If you have ever seen the SNL skit for Oops I Crapped My Pants, you will understand! Oh what the heck, here is the video!

(Sorry if the video offends anyone, not meant to do that! Anyone that knows me personally will know that I have personal experience with a family member needing to use this type of product and would never laugh about it to hurt someone's feelings!)

The first step is the hardest one...

Jimmy took his first steps yesterday! I was sitting in a chair in our living room and had him on my lap when his daddy came in and Jimmy wanted to go see him. So he slides down and then to our amazement he starts Penguin Walking (not bending his knees)! It was the cutest thing he has done so far! And the whole time he just had the cutest grin on his face and he was making he little "growling" noise (I will have to post a video of that, its hilarious!) I didn't get a pic or video, but thats ok. Here is a pic of him just standing there later on in the day. Ahh...now he will be getting into everything he wasn't getting into before. We are entering the next phase of parenthood =).

Thankful Thursday!

Here we go...it's time for Thankful Thursday. Every Thursday I am going to have a post where I share something I am.... Thankful for! It might be one thing, or a few things, whatever strikes me at the moment.

I am Thankful for my husband safely getting to and from the places he has had to go the last couple days with all the snow and ice.

I am Thankful for such a sweet little baby boy. He has not been wanting to lay down to go to sleep for the last week and a half or so. A couple days ago I forgot to bring his little blanket up from the dryer when we went to bed (I usually wait to cover him up until he has fallen asleep so he doesn't roll around and and get ON TOP of the covers) so I found another one I had put away. I am a stickler for only using 100% cotton bedding (will be explained in a post next week) so this blanket is 100% cotton flannel, nice and soft, but it does have the silky binding (not cotton! oh no!) but I figure his diapers are polyester (we use cloth) so a little binding isn't going to hurt anything. =)
Anyway, back to my point! I covered him up and went to bed. The next night when I was putting him to bed, I used the same blanket. I loved the silky binding when I was little so I showed it to him. He has another little blankie that has binding and has never really paid attention to it, so I didn't think he would care about this one either. WRONG! Instead of him standing there and not wanting to lay down, he got his thumb in his mouth and grabbed that blanket and laid right down on top of it to go to sleep! So I gently pulled the blanket out from under him and rearranged it so he was covered up but still had his corner of binding in his hand. He just laid there sucking his thumb. It was so sweet! Its been like that ever since. I am so glad he likes his binding, just like his mommy did! I only wished I would have tried it sooner..... =D
